Six Months

Katherine turned 6 months old yesterday! She's so much fun. Her checkup is on Wednesday, so I'll let you know where she ranks on height and weight.

I was talking with her teacher this week and randomly found out that the only way she'll nap at school is in the swing with a pacifier and her blanket tucked up around her. Amy said when they do that, she'll fall asleep without a fuss. I decided to try that at home, because naptime is usually accompanied by much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I've tried it for two days, and it's working beautifully! Our house is all decorated for Christmas. Katherine loves the lights and wishes she could touch the ornaments on our tree.Grandma & Grandpa Maxey came for the weekend to visit. Katherine enjoyed all of the extra attention.

Church

Here are a couple of pictures from church last Sunday. Andrew & Katherine go early with me every week and hang out in my office. Andrew usually reads or surfs the internet, and Katherine tries to help him. Devin & Paige (Devin's girlfriend) were here for Thanksgiving. So cute!

Thanksgiving

We took it easy on Thanksgiving Day. We went for a family walk, ate lunch at Mimi & Pop Pop's house and then watched CSI episodes on DVD.Friday, we drove to Nashville to see extended family (on Lori's side). People are listed by their relationship to Katherine, because she was the center of attention, of course!

Second cousin, Dawn.
Avoiding her nap...Second cousin, Lynn.Third cousin, Delaney.Katherine is named after my grandmother. There are two other Katherines in the family, but they go by their middle names: Great Aunt Katherine (Linda) and third cousin Katherine (Paige).Part of the family that was still there for the traditional porch shot.

Maxey Moments

Some random pictures from the past few days...

Smelling & touching the rose in Aunt Gail's office.
We didn't think Katherine would ever play with the "book" on her exersaucer, but it has become one of her favorite things to study.Helping Daddy write an email. She's started turning to the sound of familiar voices. We haven't figured out yet if it's her name she's responding to or just our voices. Guess we need to test that a little more.Katherine and Arwen are developing a bond. Arwen comes to visit when Katherine is in the exersaucer (always supervised, of course). Katherine watches her and squeals when she comes around. Lucy doesn't pay any attention to Katherine, but at least she's not hostile.
I love Arwen! The sounds that Katherine makes right now are quite entertaining (at least to us)!

Surprise!

Andrew's 30th birthday is later this month, so I surprised him with a big party at our house Friday night. I had been planning and preparing for weeks, and Friday was a busy day as I had to get everything set up before Andrew got home at 4pm. My parents and Bob & Gail were a HUGE help, and Andrew was very surprised. We had a blast with 40 people in attendance!
The party was originally supposed to be outside until a cold snap struck. So, we moved out the furniture from the living room and replaced it with tables. We taped different pictures of Andrew all over the tables. We had candles everywhere, thanks to Jen Crutchfield.People working hard on the crossword puzzle - How Well Do You Know Andrew.Very cool & yummy cake - made by Eric & Tiffany Bolton.

Harrison & Jackson were born 1 week apart last April.I barely even saw Katherine, because everyone else was passing her around. Here she is with Amber, Ellie & Jackson's mom. Katherine did very well at the party. She had slept for four hours at school that day getting ready to be able to stay up until 9:30pm.Ellie & Katherine. Trying on Andrew's hat.

For those of you that were bothered by the white next to some of the pictures...yes, I noticed...of course I did...but it didn't bother me enough to take the time to figure out why it did that and fix it.

Tailgating

We went to the quad to watch the Bama vs. LSU game on Saturday. There were a TON of people there! Katherine enjoyed interacting with the teens and watching all the action. She finally passed out for a little nap.

Pears

Katherine started eating pears this weekend!
