Spring Break

Andrew's spring break was last week. We woke up Monday morning with a tree down in our yard. The power lines were hanging in the driveway, so we couldn't get out. My mom let us use her car until Tuesday when they finally fixed everything.Since we did not have power, we spent Monday night at the Howard's house. Amber & I got home around 10pm from a meeting with Jen about flowers for Holly's wedding. Katherine and Andrew were sleeping downstairs. She had never slept in that room, so she didn't like it. The rest of us went upstairs to talk and didn't hear Katherine crying. Andrew brought her up about midnight, dropped her in the middle of the bed and went back downstairs to sleep. The other girls left to go to bed, and I stayed to sleep with Katherine. She had other plans and didn't go to sleep until 3:30am. At 6:30am, she sat straight up and said, "Mama, I need milk!" as if she'd had 12 hours of sleep. 3 hours of sleep didn't sit well with me, so I spent Wednesday sick on the couch.Thursday, we took Katherine to the Birmingham Zoo. Mimi went with us, and we took her to lunch afterwards for her birthday. We've been spoiled by San Diego, so after an hour and a half we were finished. She did enjoy the "gee-raffs" and "os-tich."Katherine really wanted to see the monkeys. These were the funniest. For some reason, Katherine would not walk on the smooth sidewalk. She wanted to walk in the rocks. It's becoming obvious that Katherine has a lot of my personality traits. We butt heads just a little. :-) Here we are having a discussion about why she needs to get back in the stroller. It ended with Andrew pinning her down while she screamed and tried to escape. I know ... mean parents.Andrew did a lot of yard work on Friday & Saturday. Katherine was a big helper. She likes to carry the flowers to be planted and then carry the little trays back.Everything must be neat and in order for Katherine.

Easter Weekend

This is going to be a long post with lots of pictures, so get ready! On Saturday, Katherine participated in her first Easter Egg Hunt at Easter Fest. Our church hosted the event at a park in town, and we had over 1000 people in attendance. Katherine really enjoyed eating the candy inside the eggs. One of her favorite phrases of the weekend was, "I need chocolate!"
Sunday, we had an incredible church service. The music was amazing, if I must say so myself.
Katherine heading to the van with her new purse from Mimi.
Listening to music in Mama's office before church. Finding an Easter surprise in Ms. Amber's purse. According to Katherine, "Amber funny. I love it." After church, we had 21 people (including us) for lunch at our house. Fun, fun times.
We even had a couple of Easter ducks in attendance.
We are blessed with so many people who love Katherine and want to take care of her. I have to steal little moments of love from her whenever I can.

Katherine is an egg-hunting pro by now.

The adults had to get in on the action, too, since Katherine was the only child there. You can imagine how competitive that became.

Katherine's special egg from Lauren with her nickname on it. Friday, Katherine said, "Lauren calls me Nugget."

Apparently, the blue dye on the egg didn't taste as good as Katherine expected it to!

The Blue Angels

The Blue Angels came to Tuscaloosa this weekend. Andrew took Friday afternoon off work, and we went to watch them practice instead of going Saturday with 90,000 people.
We sat outside the airport in chairs on the side of the road. Two of the planes are flying upside down here.
These are some other smaller planes that were pretty cool, too.

Katherine stayed with Lauren. We thought the noise would be too much for her. She ended up spending the night with them. Of course, she wouldn't sleep with anyone but Amber.

Brien enjoyed the show while chewing on his cup. He was able to get all the way to the bottom without breaking it off. Impressive.

I know you all actually read this blog to see Katherine, not us! So, here she is at her new little table in the kitchen. We moved it down from her bedroom. She eats here now and plays with her puzzles, reads and colors. She wasn't happy that I took her bib off.

Now that the bib is back on, everything is okay.
