The Lake

We spent a couple of hours at the lake today.
We ate chicken salad and fruit for lunch. It was shallow enough that Katherine could touch the bottom, so she would push herself off and twirl and laugh.
She liked the sand a little too much and tried repetitively to eat it. Katherine swam so long that her piggies turned into raisins. So many beautiful smiles!

What To Do When You Have a Fever

Katherine stayed home from church this morning with a fever. She and Andrew both took 3 hour naps. When I got home, she showed me a few ideas of what to do when you have a fever. Things like...

...climbing into your swing and falling out...

...banging your head with a ball and trying to take it up the rock climbing wall...

...scaling the rock climbing wall and sliding down head first...

Traveling

It has been a couple of weeks since we posted. We've been traveling! Two weeks ago, we took the youth choir to South Carolina to compete in Campus Challenge. They were the best group of kids in the way of obedience I've ever seen. They also did very well in the competition! Another reason that made Campus Challenge exceptionally great this year is that Bob & Gail now live there! We got to hang out at their house Friday night.

Katherine went along, and my mom took care of her. This was actually Katherine's 2nd Campus Challenge. She went last year when she was only 2 weeks old. There are no tubs in the apartments, so she enjoyed taking a bath in the sink where she had easy access to the ice! On Father's Day, we went out to lunch and then all took naps!We spent this past weekend with Aunt Judy & Uncle Jim at their house in Fairfield Glades, Tennessee. We didn't do much, and it was wonderful to relax! The weather was beautiful, so we got to eat every meal outside on their deck. Uncle Jim has refinished their basement into an awesome game / TV room. We enjoyed the big screen, playing pool and competing in shuffleboard. Katherine thoroughly enjoyed climbing up and down the fireplace hearth. Climbing over and under the stools was also fun. Katherine graduated to the forward-facing car seat just in time for our trips. Andrew & I looked back at her at the same time and both cracked up. We had to include this picture, so you could see her kicking back and watching her Sesame Street sing-a-long video.

Happy Birthday, Katherine!

Today Katherine completed her first year on this earth! We celebrated with an inflatable pool party in our backyard. Katherine did not want to be alone in her little pool. She spent her time in the big pool with the other kids. Katherine really enjoy herself with everyone here.

Our gift to Katherine was this swing set. She has already established that she can climb into the swing WITHOUT help, and she does NOT want to be strapped in. I'm afraid that's a dangerous combination!

Clapping is one of Katherine's new moves. She was performing for everyone.

Grace Ann & Ellie helped Katherine open her presents.

Choosing a cupcake and singing happy birthday.

Tasting her first cake.
