Weekend In Review

The daycare was closed on Friday for an inservice day, so Katherine and I spent some extra time together this weekend. She discovered that the rooms in the house are connected to each other, so she's been crawling all over the place. Needless to say, the gates have gone up! In the evenings, Katherine is usually pretty clingy and wants us to play on the floor with her. She was climbing on me and then noticed Arwen sleeping in the doorway. Katherine looked up at me, smiled, and took off to visit Arwen. She was quite excited when she arrived at her destination. Katherine can empty her own toy basket now. She did end up going headfirst into it, legs kicking and everything, but I didn't have the camera handy!

The only way to keep Katherine lying down in the changing table anymore is to strap her in. Otherwise, she pulls right up using the window ledge.
Saturday, Katherine and I ran errands together. There was a big sale at Belk, and I got her a snow suit for our trip to Indiana and Ohio in March. The size is a 6-9 month, but it completely swallows her up right now! Her adoring parents just laughed and laughed at her.

Bath Time!

Katherine still loves her bath. She can be crying and fussing, and if we put her on the changing table and turn on the water, the tears disappear, and a big grin spreads across her face. She's also interacting more with the baby in the mirror. She makes us laugh every night.

Snow!

It actually snowed here for 2 hours this morning!Daddy, you look ridiculous.Arwen likes the snow.Andrew rushed outside before the snow melted to make a snowman for Katherine.She wasn't too sure about it.I don't think I like this thing.Take it away! Pick me up! Someone rescue me!

Miss Activity

Katherine is growing up quickly and is a bundle of activity that I think is just going to accelerate! She can crawl now, but we've only see her do this when she wants either the remote or a cell phone. She much prefers to pull up on anything she can and has even started moving her hands and feet while holding on. It's happening so fast! Katherine had an accident report sent home from school this week; she fell and banged her head on the toy she was climbing on. She has boots now that actually stay on her feet - they look especially cute when she's in the jumperoo. Here are a couple of pictures and videos of the action.

7 Months Old

Katherine is 7 months old today! It's amazing how fast these months have gone, and I'm afraid they're just going to get faster. Here are some highlights of what our little one has been learning in just this past week.

Katherine can now move from her tummy to a sitting up position. She's used this to become mobile. Through a combination of rolling, sitting up and pushing herself backwards, she can get where she wants to go. This is providing longer spells of entertainment for her, where we can let her play on the floor while we do other things (in the same room). Over the holidays, we made the rooms where she'll be more "babyproof," so she can explore without us constantly having to protect her.

The most shocking feat Katherine accomplished came on Saturday. I was folding clothes on the floor while she played. She scooted over to the laundry basket and pulled herself up to a standing position and began taking clothes out! Ama-za-zing!!
Katherine and Arwen are also becoming even better buds. Arwen allows Katherine to use her as another soft option for practicing her climbing and grabbing skills. When I take Katherine with me to let the dogs out of their room in the morning and when we get home from going out, she kicks her legs and squeals at them and leans down to try to pet Arwen.
