Sitting

We were sad that Prison Break wasn't on Monday night, but Katherine got to stay up later because of it. She provided us with some great entertainment!

Pumpkinhead

Katherine has a very practical mom who refused to buy a costume when she can't even walk. So, we opted for just a hat and a onesie that she can sleep in. She still drew attention at the church Fall Festival on Sunday night.Andrew had fun with Katherine at the Festival. Here they are doing the cake walk. It's obvious he loves living his dream of being a daddy.Katherine made a basket (with a little help).Miss Angie, one of Katherine's teachers.

New Shoes

Katherine wore shoes to church for the first time this week. She looked adorable, if I must say so myself!

First Cereal

Katherine enjoyed her first bowl of rice cereal Saturday morning. She did really well. Here are some pictures and a little video. She's been eating a small bowl morning and evening. Once again, Katherine wants to do things her own way. She will only eat about half of what the doctor recommended starting with, but it's been fun!

No Heat

When we brought Katherine home from the hospital, our upstairs air conditioner needed work. Last week, we turned on the upstairs heat, and it wasn't working! Katherine had to sleep bundled up and with a space heater in her room for a few nights until it was fixed.

Getting Ready For Christmas

Aunt Judy sent Katherine some Christmas slippers. She seems to like them!Katherine poured over the Fisher Price catalog to make her Christmas wish list.

Fun Friday

Friday was a fun day for Katherine and me. We went to April and Isaac's house for play group. We've never made it to one before, and we were the only ones there this week. Isaac is nine months old, and they did well together.Next, we stopped at Aunt Gail & Uncle Bob's house to look at all of her new Guardianware. Of course, we had to take a picture of Katherine in the big pot!
Katherine petting Charlie. She was more interested in him than he was in her!We stopped at the church and then Target. Andrew got home shortly after us, and the fun continued. Katherine was worn out from the long day, so she went to bed at 7:00pm, and Andrew & I enjoyed dinner and a movie at home!

A Week of Firsts

This week, Katherine did three new things!

She sat in her high chair for the first time. Her doctor said to wait until she doubles her birth weight and eats more than 30 ounces of formula a day before starting rice cereal. She
hasn't done either yet, but it will probably happen soon! For now, she's just getting used to sitting in the chair and enjoying her toys.Katherine finally enjoys tummy time without screaming! She rolled from her tummy to her back 4 times this week!My arms are tired!Saturday, we tried the exersaucer. Katherine's short legs are long enough now to barely reach the bottom. We had to wedge her in it with blankets, but she LOVED being upright and able to play.

Sara's Sr. Night

We went to see Sara cheer at her senior night. It was the first time I'd ever seen her cheer, and she was great! Sara and her sister Kendall were the flower girls in our wedding when they were 8 and 6. Again, I'm getting older! Our little football fan.Kendall and her boyfriend held Katherine most of the night.Sara was escorted by her mom and two brothers.

Homeward Bound

Sunday morning, we took our time getting ready and then headed home. Andrew was amazed at how much Katherine had changed in those few days. She was making a lot more noises, and she could grab and control her toys much better.

Hurray! I'm out of the car seat!
What, I have to get back in the car seat?!Katherine also found her feet while we were on the trip.

Aunt Linda & Uncle Jimmy

We stopped at Aunt Linda & Uncle Jimmy's house to spend the night. It was also the first time for them to meet Katherine. We enjoyed a great dinner, then Katherine had her bath, and she and I crashed. We both slept for 12 hours! Swaddling definitely makes a difference for Katherine!

Aunt Bibbi

The next stop was in Nashville at Aunt Bibbi's apartment. This was the first time Katherine & Bibbi met each other. Again, it was a great visit, but very short!

The Brucks

On the way back from IWU, we stopped at Nathan & Carrie's house. Carrie was one of my roommates in college, and we were in each other's weddings. Carrie has two girls now. It was so much fun to visit, but an hour was not long enough!Anna is 7 weeks younger than Katherine. They are the same length, but Katherine is definitely thicker! Her cheeks really show up next to Anna!Macy brought out all of their toys for Katherine.Katherine is in shock from seeing so many toys in one place!

IWU Visit

Last week, I made a last minute decision to go to Indiana Wesleyan to hear the Chorale sing. We have four people from our church in the Chorale right now: Devin, Jeffrey, Abby & Laura. It was so cool to hear them sing again, and I got to sing "A Mighty Fortress" with them! They sang with Point of Grace for the Homecoming concert - it was incredible!Katherine enjoying the music!Jeffrey, Lori & Devin. Katherine was ready for a nap. Did I mention that I babysat Devin when he was 5? And Jeffrey would meet us at the pool during the summer. I'm old.My mom went with us on the trip. Katherine did GREAT in the car! She either slept or was entertained by Mimi. They did have a bit of a rough night when I went to the Point of Grace concert. It was very hot in Indiana that weekend, so Katherine couldn't be swaddled to sleep. She screamed for an hour before she finally fell asleep. I also didn't get much sleep, because she slept with me on the couch. She kept waking herself up in the pack-n-play because she wasn't swaddled. But, Katherine was wonderful during the day. She would smile at people when we met them, and save her crankiness for when it was just us and our friends from Tuscaloosa. There were pictures of Alumni on the door of the Christians Ministries building.

Earth Nerds

Andrew is a co-sponsor for the environmental club (Earth Nerds) at Bryant High School. They have gotten over 100 kids involved in recycling. They clean up the stadium after every home football game and walked in the Homecoming parade (Andrew rode in the convertible with the principal). Our garage has had some sort of boxes or bags of recyclables in it since the beginning of school. They got a storage shed delivered to the school yesterday, so our garage will be clean again! Earth Nerds received an award from the state for their efforts, so Andrew went to Montgomery with the other sponsor and the principal for a banquet.
